This weekend, the Girl’s Wrestling Team will compete at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at Zionsville West Middle School. For this meet, the competing teams will be Franklin Central against Zionsville West.
This will be close to one of the last few tournaments for the Girl’s Wrestling sport, due to the end of the year coming up quickly!
McKaylee, who is a player of this team has said she feels that, “I think we have a pretty good team this year, so I think we’re going to do pretty good. Most of our heavy weight is doing really good so I think we’re going to have a better advantage for heavy weight (with) Varsity and JV cause we’re doing really good this season.”
Overall, she seems to have a lot of confidence and hope for her team on the mat.
Not to mention, she has also given the following advice for any other players out there on the team, stating that, “Just go on the mat with confidence and believe in yourself, and don’t just put yourself down about it or say you’re gonna lose. Just have a lot of confidence about it, and like, just go out there and do your best.”
Along with this, advice has also been given by former wrestler and this year’s state winner for boys wrestling, Gavin Link, who advises that there are always ways to improve and get better. Whether that be in weight training, balancing a diet, or just getting practice on the mat, there will always be a way to keep improving for matches, meetings, or tournaments to come.
With this being said, remember to wish these players on the team good luck in this upcoming meet, and for the girl wrestlers out there to give it their very best.
