On February 24th, Franklin Central Junior High’s BPA members went to compete in their State Leadership Conference at Ball State University to see if they could qualify for Nationals in their respective events, which include skills such as entrepreneurship and website design.
At the SLC, it was stated that all BPA members qualified for Nationals, with the Website Design Team and Presentation Team winning 1st place in their events. Most of the BPA members are heading towards Nationals in Orlando, Florida during the dates of May 7th to 11th.
Kami Phelps, BPA’s club advisor, says, “They’ve worked really hard and I feel like their efforts have paid off and it showcases that, or illustrates that, they have worked so hard and that it’s all paid off.”
BPA members will be out the entirety of the second week of May for Nationals. Kushleen Blassi, an 8th grade BPA member, says, “I am really excited to miss a whole week of school because we are going to be in Florida and we are going to go to a resort and it will be a lot of fun.”
While it is incredibly exciting to be taking a trip to Orlando, Florida, BPA club members need to raise funds for the heavy cost of going to Orlando on plane and also other necessities, such as hotels, cutting close to a total of $2,500 per student.
Kami Phelps says, “Students have participated in Le Braide Fundraiser, where they are selling different things, um, we’ve done Candy Gram sales, we’ve also done Spirit Wear, where various people can purchase things and a portion of the profits goes to BPA.”
Congratulate the BPA members on their qualifications for Nationals and wish them good luck in the National Conference!
